Does your school offer tuition in all science subjects?
No, we are currently concentrating on the delivery of courses in the physical sciences. That is, chemistry and physics. We plan to offer more courses in the future as demand for them grows.

Is your school accredited?
SMM Academy went through the accreditation process and we on the list of AP online providers.

Are all your courses delivered online?
Currently, all our courses are delivered online using the real-time, interactive BigBlueButton web conference software.

What about labs in the science courses?
Laboratory experiments are an integral part of all science courses. They are included in our science course curricula and syllabi. Virtual labs are becoming popular and several examining bodies are recognizing them as an effective method of meeting the “hands-on” component of some of their courses. We will be offering Virtual lab as these have become more poular with advances in Learning Management Systems.

Are your courses self-paced?
Not currently. Our school predominantly targets college bound high school students, offering AP subjects from which students may be able to transfer credits to their college of choice. A classroom environment is created in which students are encouraged to follow the pacing of the courses if they are desirous of being successful.

Which math courses are offered?
AP Calculus AB, Algebra 2, AP Calculus BC. Not all courses are offered each year. Please check the course offerings before applying.

Do you have adult classes?
Yes, we will offer adult classes when demand permits it.

Will you be offering AP Statistics and AP Computer Science?
The school is actively developing the capacity to make these courses available. Please register on our mailing list so that we can inform you of our development progress for these courses.

Will I be able to transfer AP credits to all Colleges?
College credit transfers usually depend on the college. Most colleges have rules on which grades they will transfer and for which AP courses they will transfer credits. It is best to contact the college(s) that student plans to attend for their college credit transfer policy.

Can I transfer credits from AP courses to my child’s school district academic records?
AP course exams are standardized test exams and are currently accepted by most colleges. In general, students should be able to have AP exams score of 3 and above be placed on their district's school records.

Can I transfer credits from non-AP courses?
This usually depend on the school district. Most school districts are concerned about the quality of the of the education received. Our courses are aligned with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards. SMM Academy curricula and course delivery exceeds the relevant High School standards for science. Please contact your high school before registering for the non-AP and Pre-AP courses if your main concern is credit transfer to your school district. If SMM Academy has an agreement with your school district for credit transfers, we will let you know.

Do AP exam grades prepare me for trades and other non-college professional careers?
Yes, they do. They prepare you for college and careers. If you initially choose a trade, you still have the flexibility due to the advanced college placement qualifications to progress in your trade, change trades or eventually go to college if you wish to pursue a college degree.
